Wildlife Pond Posted on February 13, 2022 by Jane Browne Clearing out the rhizomes by handIt’s a mucky job….Seeding the banksThe wildlife pond was becoming choked with invasive sweet reed grass, causing it to dry out, so we called in environmental experts EMEC to deal with the problem. Vinnie and Ed put on their protective suits and pulled out the mass of rhizomes by hand, taking care not to damage the liner. After leaving the reeds on the bank overnight to allow pond life to escape, they cleared and re-seeded the banks. The water level will be topped up soon, using filtered water from the dyke.
